Gamescom, Europe's leading gaming convention, has always been a magnet for developers, gamers, and industry experts from around the globe. The event offers a unique platform for the exchange of ideas and innovations in the gaming industry, attracting 335,000 people hailing from more than 120 countries and regions. As the leading provider of security solutions for the gaming industry, Anti-Cheat Expert (ACE) also made a notable appearance at the Gamescom. Meanwhile, at Gamescom 2024, ACE established a collaboration with Cathedral Studios, aiming at fostering a secure gaming environment together.
New Frontiers in Game Security- Mobile Gaming and DMA Cheats
Sensor Tower reports that "for 2024, global mobile games revenue is projected to reach $78 billion. By 2028, revenue is expected to surpass $100 billion, with an average annual growth rate of approximately 6.8%."
With the growing mobile games market, the security threats that mobile games face are also becoming an increasing concern for the whole industry. In this context, Tencent's Technical Director for Mobile Game Security, Yue Wang, leveraging his industry expertise, offered insights into the genre-specific security challenges faced by mobile games, with a particular focus on App Mods, and other common cheats such as memory scanners, and time hack tools. Faced with these security challenges, Yue Wang detailed the array of solutions crafted by the ACE technical team.
In another session of the salon on the 22nd, Hejun Hu, with 15 years of experience in game security, highlighted the new challenges posed by DMA cheats to FPS games, an area that has always been a tough nut to crack in game security. His discussion provided a clear and comprehensive understanding of the principles of DMA cheating, the characteristics of the cheating community, methods of DMA detection, and strategies for games to guard against DMA cheats.
New Cooperation in Global Market——Cathedral Studios
On August 22nd, Anti-Cheat Expert announced partnerships with Cathedral Studios, a UK game company that has recently garnered attention in Europe and North America, to equip their flagship game, The Bornless, with Anti-Cheat Expert as its anti-cheat system.
Anti-Cheat in FPS games has always a tough nut to crack. According to the 2023 Game Security White Paper, over half of the detected cheats are found in shooting games. The sheer volume of aimbots, wallhacks, and recoil control cheats is significant, and emerging threats like DMA cheats are even introducing new challenges for FPS games. In this context, FPS games demand top-tier security measures. It takes a robust and cutting-edge anti-cheat system to maintain a safe gaming environment. Cathedral Studios' choice of Anti-Cheat Expert reflects the system's proven anti-cheat prowess and conveys a significant level of trust in the Anti-Cheat Expert team.
As Yue Wang highlighted in his concluding remarks at the salon sharing session, combating game cheating is a protracted battle. Throughout the journey of Gamescom 2024, the Anti-Cheat Expert team has shared our expertise with game developers and gamers.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the prospect of collaborating with more partners globally to strive for a fair gaming environment.
